Customize ProfileSets

In BlendVision One, you need to define your output resolution and bitrate into a ProfileSet that will define the codec and streaming protocol of your encoding output for each VOD. BlendVision One provides the ability for you to easily produce adaptive streaming by customizing your own ProfileSets or using the presets we provide.

This article details how to create and manage your own custom ProfileSets to optimize the output of an encoded video.

Before we start

In order to manage custom ProfileSets, you need to access the VOD ProfileSet list on the BlendVision One web console.

Navigate to “General Settings” → “VOD ProfileSets” from the left sidebar to access the list below:

Refer to the sections below for detailed steps on how to manage your custom ProfileSets:

Note: BlendVision One provides multiple presets that you can use for VOD encoding. Please refer to VOD ProfileSets for the preset list we provide.

Add custom ProfileSets

Start creating

1. Press the “Add ProfileSet” button on the VOD ProfileSets list to start creating a new ProfileSet.

2. On the creation page, the configurations below need to be set up to define the output format:

ProfileSet Name

3. Fill in the ProfileSet Name for the new ProfileSet.

  • Max: 30 characters
  • This will be the name displayed in the selection options when choosing the ProfileSet for a new VOD.

ProfileSet Configuration

4. Set up the Video Codec and streaming communication protocols.

  • Select a video codec type from H.264 | AVC or H.265 | HEVC
    • This is a single-choice option, and will also affect the selectable profiles. It is not allowed to apply the profiles of both H.264 and H.265 to the same ProfileSet.
  • Enable or disable MPEG-DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP) and HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) protocols
    • This is a multiple-choice option. BlendVision One allows you to encode the VOD with these two protocols to support video streaming on most devices.

Audio tracks

6. Select the Audio tracks output from the following options:

  • First Track: automatically selects the first audio track as the output.
  • Same as Source File: the language code and display name of audio tracks will follow the metadata of your source file. (if you didn’t define it in the source files, it’ll show as undefined)
  • Custom: customize the audio tracks output and its language code/display name
    • Click the “Add Track” button to add new audio tracks for a maximum of 10 tracks.
    • Select the language code for each track from the drop-down menu in the Language options.
    • Fill in the Display Name field for each track: only English, Chinese, and Japanese letters are allowed.
    • Click the delete icon shown on the right side to delete the selected track.

Profiles

7. Select your preferred Profile (up to 10):

  • BlendVision One provides multiple profile presets. You can also create/delete your own profiles. Please refer to Customize Profiles for more details on preset profiles and profile management.
    • Please be careful when permanently deleting customized profiles. It will affect all custom ProfileSets even if they have not been edited.
  • In the All tab, you can confirm all selectable profiles and their details, then select your preferred profiles using the checkboxes.
  • In the Selected tab, your selected profiles will be listed. Uncheck a profile to remove them from the selection.
